Tillamook State Forest - 27 July 02

On the morning of 27 July 02, Mel, Traia, Todd, and myself met at the pullout for Bates Road.  We ran Bates Road, then Powerline (skipping the Little Rubicon section) to University Firepower.  From there we headed up to Firebreak 5.  We walked both the Little Crusher and Bone Crusher loops.  Below are some pictures of Bone Crusher.  After finding Kurt and Mike in Bone Crusher with a broken axle, we offered to try to get a hold of Tom V and the group from 2 Big Broncos that he was running with that day.  When we met up with that group earlier in the day, I had thought I had seen one of the Jeeps carrying axle shafts.  Sure enough, we got a hold of them as they came up FB5 and we showed them where Kurt and Mike were stuck and lucky for Mike, they had a spare D35 axle shaft.  After a while we headed on out, not being able to help further, and we then headed to Cable Trail and then on out to Rogers Camp to air up.  (I heard later that Kurt and Mike got back to Rogers Camp about 20 minutes after we pulled out of there for Portland)
